Become a Distant Parent to a Child Who Needs One

The Semi-Adoption Program is one of the most intimate and meaningful ways to be involved with Caring Touch Family Foundation. It gives you the opportunity to assume the role of a parent — from a distance — in the life of a child in our shelter, with full financial responsibility and an ongoing relationship that changes both of your lives.

What Is Semi-Adoption?

Semi-Adoption is not legal adoption. It is something perhaps even more intentional: a voluntary, sustained commitment by an individual, couple, family, or organization to take full financial responsibility for a specific child in the Ark, while building a relationship with that child over time. The child remains under the full care and protection of Caring Touch Family Foundation. You become the constant in their life — the person who shows up, financially and relationally, season after season.

Who Can Participate

Individuals

Any individual with a heart for children and the capacity for sustained financial commitment is welcome to apply. Age, location, and marital status are not barriers.

Couples & Families

Couples and families who wish to extend their family's love and resources to a child in need are warmly invited. Many semi-adoptive families describe the relationship as genuinely transformative for everyone involved.

Organizations

Corporate organizations, faith communities, and civic groups can collectively assume semi-adoptive responsibility for a child — distributing the financial commitment across members while building a shared stake in a specific child's future.

What Semi-Adoption Covers

Full Financial Responsibility

The semi-adoptive parent assumes complete financial responsibility for the child: shelter, feeding, healthcare, education, clothing, and all program-related costs. A detailed cost breakdown is provided at the point of matching.

Ongoing Relationship

Semi-adoption is not anonymous. You know your child by name, follow their progress, receive regular personal updates, and — within appropriate boundaries established by the Foundation — may write to them, send gifts on their birthdays, and be acknowledged in their life as the person who chose them.

Quarterly Progress Reports

Every quarter, you receive a structured report covering the child's academic progress, health status, social development, and personal milestones. These reports are written with care, and they let you see exactly how your commitment is shaping a life.

Annual Letter from the Child

Once a year, your child writes you a personal letter — guided by Foundation staff and expressed in the child's own words. Many semi-adoptive parents describe these letters as among the most precious things they have ever received.

Visits (With Prior Arrangement)

Semi-adoptive parents who wish to visit their child at the Ark may do so with advance arrangement and in accordance with the Foundation's safeguarding policies. Visits are structured, warm, and conducted in the child's best interests at all times.

Foundation Support

Throughout the semi-adoption relationship, the Foundation's team is available to answer questions, navigate any concerns, and ensure that the relationship between you and your child is healthy, appropriate, and deeply beneficial for both of you.

The Process

Application & Expression of Interest

Begin by contacting us to express your interest. We will send you the Semi-Adoption Application Form, which gathers information about you, your household, your motivation, and your capacity for commitment. There is no fee to apply.

Review & Conversation

Our team reviews all applications and schedules a personal conversation with each prospective semi-adoptive parent. This conversation helps us understand you better and answer any questions you have about the program and the children in our care.

Matching

Once approved, we thoughtfully match you with a child whose profile, needs, and circumstances align with what you can offer. We do not rush this step. The right match is the foundation of a relationship that will span years.

Agreement & Onboarding

A clear Semi-Adoption Agreement is signed, outlining the financial commitment, reporting schedule, communication boundaries, and the responsibilities of both parties. You are then formally introduced — through a letter — to your child.

The Ongoing Relationship

From that point forward, you are part of this child's story. Quarterly reports keep you informed. Annual letters keep you connected. And the knowledge that you have chosen this child — that you show up for them reliably, year after year — is one of the most powerful gifts a vulnerable child can receive.

This Is Not Charity. This Is Family.

Semi-adoptive parents tell us, repeatedly, that they receive far more than they give. A child who knows they are chosen — who knows that someone outside the Ark walls has decided they matter — grows differently. Straighter. Stronger. With a confidence in their own worth that no program alone can fully provide. You give a child a parent. They give you a purpose that lasts a lifetime.

Begin Your Journey

One Child Is Waiting for Someone Exactly Like You

You do not need to be wealthy. You do not need to be perfect. You need to be consistent, caring, and willing to commit to a child who has not yet had someone do that for them. That is enough. That is everything.
